Saturday's Yard Sale Finds

This past Saturday we left the house around 7am with the GPS and Local newspaper in hand. Maureen and Jenna both came along since I am still on crutches. (My cast is being removed on Tuesday.) In the past I've found that the fall months of September and October tend to be the most successful Yard Sale months because the children are back in school, the weather is nice and people clean out in the fall. Anyway, we hit about dozen sales and drove by another 10 that weren't worth  me getting out of the car for. Here what we found:

  • Bed raisers 1$ College kids use them to raise there beds to fit more stuff underneath
  • Neat metal brass clock 3$
  • Gallon of Anti-Freeze 1$
  • Grilling Tools to use on my new grill  1$ each
  • Electric Staple gun. 1$
  • Suede Rockport Shoes 2$ if they don't fit well, I'll sell them on Ebay.

  • Brand New Still had the tags Finger Nail set in carrying case 3$ this was for Jenna
  • 4 reams of HP paper 25c each 1$
  • Metal lamp with Shade possible for guest room 3$
  • 4 John Grisham Books 25c each 1$
  • Pin Head point Impression Nick Knack 25c Jenna an I will play with it for awhile
  • Cute kids calendar 25c
  • The Soprano Family Cookbook. 1$ Loved the show 30$ book had to have it.

  • Taylor Made Ti 2 Bubble Driver Like New 2$ I should get $15-20 on eBay
  • Round Up Weed Killer Sprayer 2$ I've been looking for one of these.

  • Antique wooden full size bed Frame. $25 We'll clean this up and use it in our guest room.

There was an add in the paper for an Upscale Yard Sale. I don't like these type of add because to me they mean it will more often than not be an overpriced yard sale. What they are saying is that our junk is better than your junk or the next guys. Anyway, we decided to go to the sale and true to form all their junk was overpriced. Granted they did have some nice stuff. To me just because your old clothes are Holister, Abercrombie and Ralph Lauren they are still used clothing and should be priced accordingly. Same goes for all your other stuff. People go top Yard Sales looking for bargains. If you want to get rid of your "upscale" junk price it correctly.
Maureen found this bag and thought Jamie would like it. Of course it was overpriced at $10.  I offered the lady $7 which still was too much. She frowned and rolled her eyes as she took my money.
